Five tips for a more enjoyable life

Itecor · February 20, 2021

As head of HR, my work consists of managing Human Resource.

First of all, I don’t like this term. For me, employees and colleagues are not a resource, but an asset.

An asset for themselves first, for their life and for their family. An asset that everyone should take care off. It is what we aim at here at Itecor. Our goal is to offer an environment that is positive for the development of each and everyone because we strongly think that we have to put the Human way first, then we can talk about the Resource.

Today, I would like to share 5 advices that I learned in my life. Advices that could help you enhancing yours. They are simple to follow but can have a powerful effect on you. They had on my life at least…

Be true to yourself

Always try to stay true to your beliefs. Listen to yourself when you have to make a decision, listen to your gut. Trust yourself. Be careful not to try to convince yourself when you need to make a decision. The answer should be within you.

Create an environment that fits you right

Make sure that the environment you are in helps you grow. Make sure that it offers you the tool you need to develop your qualities. Pretty much everything needs to grow to stay alive. You are no different. If you do not grow, then you wither. But in order to grow you have to define what environment is best for you and create it.

Judge others favorably as you never know the battle they may be fighting

It is very easy and tempting to judge others on the spot. Because you saw him or her in a bad mood, you think he or she is grumpy. But be sure to be always prudent as you don’t know what is happening in other people’s life. The face you see in the morning is probably not the person in the inside. So be on the safe side and judge people favorably until you know them well enough.

Respect other’s way of seeing life

Most people have different opinions. It can come from their background, their previous experience or their upbringing. You obviously do not need to agree with them, but be certain to respect their opinion. Take a side step to look through their lenses. You may not change your mind, but you may learn something. Openness and respect are the cornerstone of peace of mind.

Be vulnerable

Maybe the most important advice I will give you today. Cherish your vulnerability even though we are constantly being told to be strong, to be perfect. Once we decide that we are vulnerable, we can accept our imperfection (which, by the way, makes us unique, thus, perfect) we can open our eyes to the world of knowledge that we have around us. Most good ideas comes when we try to solve a problem not when we think that we do everything right.

Finally, an extra one, enjoy life. Take a deep breath and look around, life is mostly enjoyable. Not always easy , a bit tricky but often magical. And right now, as you read those lines, everything is fine, even for a minute.

As Mark Twain said wisely,

“I’ve had a lot of worries in my life, most of which never happened.”

Let me know your thoughts? Or if you have any advice you would like to share. I am always eager to share experiences.
